There is a understated but significant difference between the type of movie The Descent is, and the sort of movie Lionsgate Motion pictures wants one to think it is. The ads openly boast regarding horror films’ dubious level of bloodstream and gore – and by which criterion, The Descent definitely fits the bill. Options for light are hard to come by on the bottom, and writer/director Neil Marshall relishes it.
